Day 17

Date January 6, 2013

The lack of insight in the previous handful of posts lies at the feet of my server host and my lack of foresight to make backup copies. Unfortunately even though I was duping my blog onto Facebook I was using an app that only made linked post not actual copies… so original disappears then only the link and title remain. I am sure their was some incredibly insightful posts in that group that might change my perspective on my work if i reread them at a future point while questioning my works content and methodology. Guess I will need to question the worthiness of my own work without the revelatory omniverse of socila medias unblinking eye.

P3 Day 10: confused about the morality of white negative space

I’m still having great uncertainty about where the white spaces live on this one. On the previous two in this series it was more of a editing question concerning how much white space. This time I cant get a clear feel for it as of yet. Although looking at the thumbnail images that I post on here does make it easier to step away and look somewhat more objectively. Yeah an objective finally…

Day 07

Date December 11, 2013

Day 7: The clock runs ever slower. It seems as if I spend most of my time posting complaints about the time constraints.

So tonight I say no.. no I will not winge. Tonight is going well, steady progress, trying to consolidate the green overwhelming the lower bouts.

I will just say a few words about my working methods. I have an easel (big one), Windmill attachment(yay), a taboret with my palette attached to a old monitor arm. And a large flatscreen TV attached to my taboret…I couldn’t work the long nights without a steady stream of Animation ( south park, Fam GUy, Oblongs etc), Tv series( Buffy, Firefly etc)…main requirement is Dialogue driven programs that don’t require actual watching. Right now I have returned to Audio books. I’m renewing my acquaintance with a series I haven’t read in 20 years. David Eddings Belgariad series. Very pleasant post Tolkien

Day 06

Date January 6, 2013

Day 6: I’m not sure if the green/blue green color spaces are working with the rest of the painting. I’m sort of committed to those colors by nature of the chosen content, but in the end aesthetics do trump content ….. sometimes.

Day 05

Date January 6, 2012

Progress id really quite good at this stage. I resisted the temptation to fracture the images as finely as I have in the rest of the series. Hopefully it will remove some of the weightiness of this painting compared to the previous two.

Day 04

Date January 6, 2013

Day 4: Making good progress. Long night of work. Still haven’t got a feel of where the negative(white) space will go on this one. It always seems to be easy to see the edges as the negative space framing the image, but that seems pointless. Without using the space to create movement and work within the context I might as well not bother.

Day 03

Date January 6, 2013

Day 3: Green addition is starting to balance the yellow/orange a bit. Panic to finish before the upcoming show is starting to set in. Less than 20 days to finish all three paintings plus:

1. ready the loft.

2.Update website.

3. New Promo material.

4. Launch blog.

Find decent Art Rep so I dont get saddled with this everytime.

Day 02

Date January 6, 2013

Day 2: Laying down some of the brightest tones to get a feel where this one is going. At this stage though it looks like a drunken clown is throwing up confetti on the canvas. Yellow tones are much brighter this time around because I have returned to using Cadmium yellow instead of Hansa yellow that I was locked into for awhile.

Day 01

Date January 6, 2013

Day 1: Painting #3 in this series. Decided to continue with the thematic content that didnt fit on #2 as I intended. No images reused just more content that I felt a connection with. Now that I am on #3 I need to start the promtion for this series. Naming individual paintings is generally not a problem, but series names just seems so frustrating. Especially since I try never to tell the viewer exactly what each painitng consists of. Trying to give enough info to elicit interest yet not hold someones hand as if we making lanyards at summer camp can be very stressful.
